Laser Treatments: Shed Light on Your Skin Blemishes

LASER stands for ”Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation”.

Indeed, a laser emits a ray that generates a relatively strong amount of energy that can burn away certain undesirable tissues. Now fairly common in dermatology, many treatments based on laser technology can improve the appearance and texture of skin.

At Inovo Medical, we offer a broad range of these laser treatments at our aesthetic clinic. Our team has studied the various types of laser equipment in order to choose the best available on the market. In order to choose the laser treatments that best correspond to your needs, we recommend that you meet with our doctor specialized in dermatology for a private consultation.

Laser Hair Removal

In the last decade, medicalized hair removal has proven itself as the best approach to permanently doing away with unwanted hair. With this technique, light from the laser selectively destroys the hair follicle without destroying skin cells. The laser only affects cells that contain high amounts of melanin (darker), which explains why the treatment is risk-free as long as the skin has not been exposed to sunlight for a month.
In your first session, our doctor specialized in dermatology assesses your medical chart, skin type, and hair. Afterward, he or she can give you an estimate of the number of sessions required according to the target area. During each session, they will make sure that the laser’s parameters are adjusted for hair removal that is both safe and as effective as possible. An anesthetic gel is applied to your skin prior to treatment for maximum comfort. In just a few sessions, we can put an end to the daily unpleasantness of unwanted hair.

Scar and Pigmentation Removal

Acne scars and brown (pigmentation) spots caused by sun exposure are problems frequently encountered in aesthetic medicine. Fortunately, there is a new laser that can do away with pigmentation problems by generating skin from the inside out!

Lasers that can remove pigmentation spots on the skin are referred to as photomechanical. That means that the light reaches and acts so rapidly on the skin that the excess melanin disappears without the skin burning. The spots turn darker and fall off on their own several days after the treatment.

A carbon-dioxide (CO2) laser should be used to treat deep wrinkles or creases, aging of the skin due to sun exposure, scars, and moderate acne scarring. A more effective approach to treating very deep acne scarring is to combine laser use with an injection such as JUVÉDERM® VOLUMA™ XC or BOTOX® to fill in hollows and ensure that the skin has a smooth appearance.

In addition to being quick and painless, fractionated laser resurfacing produces impressive results even after only one session.

Rosacea, Angiomas, and Varicose Veins

At Inovo Medical, we have the most recent and effective lasers for treating skin disorders. With the long-pulse Nd:YAG laser, we can considerably reduce the presence of angiomas (port-wine stains), rosacea (superficial blood vessels on facial skin), and varicose veins in the legs. The red coloring of problem blood vessels attracts the light generated by this laser. As a result, the laser causes the hemoglobin in the small vessels to coagulate and directly destroys them.
The procedure is quick and relatively painless. Three or four sessions can give your skin a clear, smooth appearance without scarring.
